O’s-Sox game 2

After getting shut-out in the opener by Jon Lester, the slumping O’s are looking to take at least one of the games in this three game series versus division rival, the Boston Red Sox.

The O’s are 10-17 against division rivals this year, .370 and aren’t heading the right direction. Yesterday nights’ game saw Jason Berken make his sixth career start. He gave up one run in the first two batters he faced, when JD Drew led off with a triple over Adam Jones’ head. Dustin Pedroia singled next to bring Drew home, (1-0) Sox. after three two fair innings for Berken, JD Drew was up to no good again hitting a two-run bomb giving the Sox a (3-0) lead. There was not much to say after Drew’s homer, as the Red Sox ended up scoring two more runs, as the O’s scored none.

Jon Lester was a monster giving up five hits over seven strong innings with no earned runs given up to the horrid O’s offense. Aubrey Huff commented saying, “He knows, (Lester) he has had success against us, and when a pitcher knows that, they turn the intensity level up a notch and pitch better.” Lester did just that throwing one of his best performances of the year. Huff also said, “We just couldn’t get anything to hit today, he could locate wherever he wanted, and he had an outstanding fastball, a good cutter, a nice sinker, and an un-hittable curve.” Lester, has the second longest  current win streak against the O’s eight games. posting an ERA just above 2.00. Roy Halladay has the longest current win streak vs. the O’s with nine wins in a row!

The O’s offense needs to wake up now, so C’mon Trembley, do something productive!!! I say give Reimold the LF spot and make him the 5 hitter behind Wieters, move Huff six. ANYTHING!

Tonights probable starters are John Smoltz, (0-1) 9.00 ERA, and for the O’s, Rich Hill, (3-2) 6.03 ERA. Hill hasn’t completed five or more innings in four of his last six starts so tonight might just be a slugfest for the Sox, and Lord knows about how the O’s offense will do, with Smoltz on the hill. Rich Hill struck out the side in the first inning of his last start using ten pitches. So, it will  be make or break tonight. For Hill to be good tonight, he will need to locate the fastball, and get K’s not give up HR’s.

For the O’s to mix it up a little for tonight, here is my batting order I made from scratch just to give some idea’s.

1. Brian Roberts 2B

2. Adam Jones CF

3. Nick Markakis RF

4. Matt Wieters C

5. Nolan Reimold LF

6. Aubrey Huff DH

7. Melvin Mora 3B

8. Ty Wiggington 1B

9. Robert Andino SS

This is my lineup I would like to see in the near future and I believe it would be a decent change. I hope the O’s go North not South and get the offense started up again. Please tell me what you think about this. thanks :). the O’s are trying. Lets Go O’s!!!! talk to you next time on the Orange Bird
