After a dissapointing loss last night, the O’s look to rebound tonight against the Mariners. The O’s bats had it last night, but not the O’s pitching.
Pitching tonight will be Orioles ace Brad Bergesen (5-2, 3.53) vs. Jarrod Washburn of the Mariners (4-6, 3.36).
Scouting Report Bergesen: Last outing, Bergesen pitched eight strong giving up one earned. He would be (6-2) if the O’s bullpen hadn’t blown the lead. Bergesen has been locating the ball very well, and has been throwing many off speed pitches for strikes.
Scouting Report Washburn: Washburn is terrible at recieving run support. Last outing he only gave up four runs but recieved two in return and took the loss. He allowed three home runs his last outing, so if the O’s work him, and get into hitters counts, they can be very succesful against this shaky pitcher.
On Tuesday, the matchup is Jeremy Guthrie, (6-8, 5.20) against Erik Bedard (5-2, 2.47)
Scouting Report Guthrie: Guthrie pitched perfect his last outing, if you take away the two home runs for Abreu. Guthrie has been hit with the home run fever, as he has given up a league leading 19 bombs this year. If he can get the ground balls, strike outs, and fly balls instead of the long balls, the O’s will get the W.
Scouting Report Bedard: The M’s have been awaiting Bedard’s return for a long long time, since June 7, and he will get the toss for the O’s, M’s game on Tuesday. He is most likely going to be in the 50-70 pitch range his first time out, so if the O’s offense can jump on him early, they can knock him and the M’s out of the game. In his first start against the O’s, Bedard won.
Wednesday nights’ game will see David Hernandez (2-2, 4.15) vs. Jason Vargas (3-3, 4.14)
Scouting Report Hernandez: Hernandez through one of his best outings last time out as he pitched into the seventh. His only blemish was Kendry Morales’ two run bomb. Hernandez got a lot of strike outs in the minor leagues, yet hasn’t done so in the Majors. If he can start getting the K’s, he will become another ace for the O’s.
Scouting Report Vargas: Vargas went into the fifth inning against the Yanks last time out, holding the Yanks to four runs. He has faced the Birds twice this year so far, and is (0-1) recieving a loss on June 9 in Baltimore when the score was 3-1 O’s.
Seattle Mariners Lineup:
1. Ichiro Suzuki RF
2. Russel Branyan 1B
3. Jose Lopez 2B
4. Ken Griffey Jr. DH
5. Franklin Gutierrez CF
6. Ryan Langerhans LF
7. Kenji Johjima C
8. Chris Woodward 3B
9. Ronny Cedeno SS
Keep Ichiro off the bases at all times! He is the igniter of the M’s offense. If you keep him off the bases, you will keep the M’s off of the scoreboard. Also, give up solo HR’s not two or three run bombs to this offense. Don’t give Branyan or Griffey Jr., anything to hit. They can easily go yard if you make one mistake. Last, get to the end of the lineup. The M’s have five premier hitters, six through nine you can get through without blinking.
Go after the M’s and lets hope for two out of three AT LEAST! Thanks for your time I will post in the future
