One Hit Wonder!

Last nights game was another offensive collapse as the O’s got one hit off of Jarrod Washburn, as he almost pitched a no-hitter. Nick Markakis was the lone beholder of a single for the O’s. The O’s were hitting the ball hard, just right at people. Ty Wiggington had two lineouts, Adam Jones had one, and Robert Andino had one. The O’s saw 110 pitches from Washburn in which 75 were strikes, and the game took a mere 2 hrs 9 min. Bergesen gave up three earned in six innings pitched, making it another quality start.

Sadly, the O’s have been a decent all around team this year. They just haven’t worked together to get W’s. The Orioles rank 6th in AVG. (.268), 9th in OBP (.330), and 10th in Runs (383). The O’s pitching staff is 9th in saves (19) and they are 13th in in ERA (5.10).

The O’s leaders are,

BA- Adam Jones (.305)

HR- Luke Scott (16)

RBI- Aubrey Huff (55)

R- Brian Roberts (62)

OPS- Adam Jones (.858)

ERA- Brad Bergesen (3.59)

SO- Jeremy Guthrie (62)

The O’s need to start playing as a team, and they need to START doing it. The O’s have the worst record on the road, and it showed as last night was one of the worst offensive meldowns I have seen in awhile. Tonight, the Mariners are throwing Erik Bedard (5-2 2.47) against Jeremy Guthrie (6-8 5.20) for the O’s. Matt Wieters is hitting .333 (22-66) in his last 18 starts, so if he can keep delivering, he can ignite the O’s offense once again.

C’mon O’s, no more one hit wonders! Get the O-ffense started up, and start delivering. You have the most loyal fans out here! Until next time, Go O’s!

Adam Jones has really turned it around this year and he is an improving young player. Wieters and Reimold are of course bright young stars too. If not this year, I see some bright years in your future.
